Who are we?

Coach Kent Ridley and his wonderful wife live with their four kids in Airdrie, Alberta. He is currently the head coach of the Airdrie Blue Devils basketball club, a coach with AMBA basketball and helping out with STARS Basketball clinics. He is also a graduate of the Sports Management World Wide Basketball GM and Scouting program under ESPN's Chad Ford.

In the past he has worked with:
  • NFL/CFL High School Coach of the Year Paul Kerber, during four seasons they won two Calgary City Championship high school football teams - 1999 with Bowness and 2000 with Western Canada.
  • an ACAC college basketball team for 5 years - Prairie Bible College 2 years as a team manager and 3 as a scout
  • scouted and charted the four teams at the 2005 and 2008 Minto Cups - Canadian Jr. A Box Lacrosse National Championship
  • been a contributing member of the Society for Lacrosse Research since 2002 as well as a member of the Association of Pro Basketball Research since 2007
  • worked with the Knights of Airdrie of the RMLL as their public relations director.

Kent lists Jon Gruden (Tampa Bay Bucs), Tony Dungy (Indianapolis Colts), Marc Trestman (Montreal Alouettes), Mack Brown (Texas), Don Casey (Temple U), Dr. Jerry Krause (Gonzaga), Mark Few (Gonzaga), Pat Riley (Miami Heat) and Jill Prudden (Oak Ridge [TN] High) as his football and basketball coaching influences. He is a constant student of the game and studies other coaches at work.

Kent has also worked as a sports broadcaster, with 730 CKNW from Vancouver, British Columbia as a guest color commentator when UBC and Simon Fraser played the U of Calgary Dinos in Canada West football action. As well as being the ArenaMedia.com broadcaster - play by play - for the NLL's Calgary Roughnecks for two seasons.

In high school Kent was a three year member of his high school soccer team, managed the school basketball and football teams. Once he reached college, he stepped that up and was manager of the men's basketball team for two years and also started a campus club indoor soccer team that found opponents from the local high school and around the province. During his final semester of college, Kent badly sprained the MCL in his right knee which kept him off all playing fields completely for over a year.

The first thing you'll notice is the wide scope of sports that Kent has worked with in the past. He brings a knowledgeable background to any college program or professional organization in a variety of settings that would add to his value. Could he find you a star that isn't on your chart?

From watching Sidney Crosby as a 14 year old with his midget hockey team from Dartmouth, NS to seeing another first overall draft pick but in a different sport, Dwight Howard with the Atlanta Celtics AAU youth team, Kent has managed to keep tabs on the next generation of sports stars. Coach Ridley has been a frequent sight at many youth tournaments in several sports helping out with organizing and generally being a fan.

Kent's background in promotion comes from his two year stint owning Vic Johnson Distribution with Ken Bitz and co-producing several concert events in Calgary including the infamous original Hoodie Hardcore Night that featured 13 bands (from all over North America - San Diego, CA to Winnipeg, MB to Prince George, BC) in a single evening.
